Define beauty in a single word.

Effortless.

What do you cherish most about your culture?

Black beauty is everything. It’s the creativity, the resilience, and the way we turn care into something meaningful. I cherish how our culture embraces self-expression, from how we style our hair to how we move through the world with confidence and grace. There’s a strength and softness in the way Black women show up, and that has always stayed with me.

What is a beauty practice in your family that’s been passed down through generations?

Hair care, without a doubt. I grew up in a hair salon, it was like a second home. I started getting my hair done at a young age, usually braided or styled with a press and curl. My cousin was my hairstylist, and from those early experiences, I developed a deep love for hair care. But at any Black salon, it’s never just about the hair. You learn the art of showing up for yourself, of looking good and feeling even better. That’s where my beauty journey really began.

What most inspires your work?

I’m inspired by the idea of showing up for yourself in simple, intentional ways. It doesn’t have to be complicated, sometimes it’s the smallest habits that make the biggest impact. That’s what drives my work: creating space for ease, comfort, and care without the overwhelm.

What is one daily dose of luxury you always make room for?

My nighttime routine. Cleansing my face, wrapping my hair, and winding down for the night always helps me feel like myself again. It’s a small moment, but it makes a big difference, it calms my mind and lets me end the day with care.

We are officially at the half mark of 2025. What self-care goal have you set for yourself for the rest of this year?

After everything I’ve been through, my goal is simple: keep working hard toward the things I want, but also make room for rest when I feel burnt out. I’m learning to slow down without feeling guilty and to give myself credit for how far I’ve come.

What practices contribute to your mental and emotional wellbeing?

Protecting my peace is essential. That means setting boundaries, taking breaks from social media, and reminding myself that rest is necessary, not something to feel guilty about. I’m learning to slow down and give myself space to just breathe and reset.

"Joy, for me, is peace. It’s moving at my own pace, showing up for myself, and staying grounded in what matters most. I find joy in the quiet moments, in keeping my faith strong, and in trusting that everything is working out how it should, God first, always."

Is there a sentimental beauty product or brand that instantly transports you to a joyful moment in your life?

A silk scarf will always remind me of home. It brings me back to childhood routines, wrapping my hair at night, the soft scent of hairspray, or the lingering smell of a hot comb after getting a fresh press. And now, when I think about it, those moments weren’t just routine, they showed me what it means to care for yourself without overcomplicating it. That same feeling is at the heart of Primp by Parker: simple beauty, done with intention.
